MEET THE MEDIA

About Meet The Media

At Tech In Asia, we receive tons of pitches from companies who want coverage on their products, but cold emails don’t work as well as face-to-face meetups! This Meet the Media session is a chance for you to meet Tech in Asia’s bloggers and media journalists from other major outlets, whom you can pitch your startup and share about your company’s journey to.

Requirements

You must be a conference attendee with a valid conference pass.
Get your tickets here.

* Note: Student Pass holders are unable to access this segment.

In this highly anticipated segment, startups and companies get a chance to pitch to our scheduled list of journalists for five minutes. Registration for slots will commence at the event and on a first-come-first-served basis only.

Note: Participating media list and schedule might be subjected to changes due to the media’s availability.

  1. Firstly, startups are required to take a queue number from the registration table of the investor/media company of your choice. The queue for each session will open 30 minutes before the specified slot. For example. If Investor A’s slot runs from 1400hrs to 1500hrs, the queue for investor A will open at 1330hrs.
  2. Please understand that due to overwhelming response, we are unable to ensure you get to meet the company of your choice.
  3. The crew will close the queue once the maximum possible sessions are reached. Please note: We cannot ensure that everyone who takes a queue number will get a chance to meet the investors/media they want.
  4. Your slot will be based on the queue number you are issued at the registration table.
  5. All slots will start promptly on time. Please arrive at the Speed Dating/Meet The Media booth at least 5 minutes before your specified slot. Startups who miss their turn will have their time slots forfeited and will need to take a new number from the registration table if slots are still available.
  6. Due to the overwhelming response, participants who are unable to get their turn may proceed to exchange name cards with investors/media after the session closes. Startups are free to follow up with investors/media directly thereafter.
  7. Each pitch may only last up to 5 minutes. Be sure you’ve got your elevator pitch ready before you start; pitches can be terminated at any point if they are not relevant to the investors. This is to safeguard the interest of the investors/media and also to ensure as many startups as possible get a chance to speak.
  8. You are allowed to present your pitch using your own laptop(s) or other mobile device(s).
  9. In order to keep track of time during the 5-minute pitch, the station master will ring a bell at the 3rd minute (one ring), 4th minute (2 rings), and end of the session (multiple rings). The station master will stop the pitch at the end of 5 minutes.
